An Oasis For Your Eyes – Contact Lenses
Optical contact lenses are a popular way to correct vision deficiencies – either long-sighted or short-sighted – and are an increasingly trendy alternative to traditional eye glasses. They are to be placed onto the eyes and used to prevent many of the problems that come with wearing spectacles like falling off while playing some sports.
They are also a great way to change your appearance, if you don’t like how you look with eye glasses. This is more a perception problem: a lot of people wear spectacles and think they would look better without them, while others think eye glasses give them a unique and classy look.
If you want to get a pair of contact lenses, a visit to the optician is a must. You will need to have your eyes tested to get the right lenses prescribed, because not everybody can wear contacts. There are people with highly irritable eyes who can’t get used to wearing even the most comfortable contacts.
If the doctor decides your eyes are fit to wear contact lenses then the optician must first train you on how to put them on and take them off. This can, at first, be a daunting and weird task because none of us is used to put things in our eyes and this may be quite hard to get used to.
If you get confirmation that you can safely wear contact lenses then you will have to take a short trial to see how comfortable you are with putting them on, wearing them and taking them off on a daily basis. Again, not everybody may get used to this, so there are people who go back to spectacles once the trial is over, while others keep on wearing contact lenses on a regular basis.
It takes practice to put lenses on. Your eyes may get irritated and, while this may be normal for the first few hours or even up to a day or two, if the condition persists then a more sensitive solution has to be chosen. Your doctor might then recommend daily disposables or some other, more comfortable type of contacts.
Once you got used to wearing contacts, remember to check with your optician at least once a year to renew your prescription. Additionally, you will need to follow the maintenance tips strictly and contact your doctor for any problems you may run into.
